Nestled away on a half mile dead end road lies a secluded 80-acre paradise we fondly refer to as Hay Creek Kennel. It is a family owned and operated facility founded on strong family ties and values, support of friends, and true respect and love for dogs. We take tremendous pride in boarding and training dogs, as well as the kennel and training grounds that aid in the training; it is our life and passion.
Our training knowledge is based on a sound and broad research base as we are and will continue to be well read on credible training techniques and the nature of dogs as pack animals. Furthermore, we have attended numerous training seminars and have sucessfully completed the Ronnie Smith Apprenticeship Program. We are secure in our abilities and pride ourselves on providing low pressure, high energy, positive training to instill confidence in dog and owner.
Here at Hay Creek Kennel, we train using the Silent Command System™ created by the Smith family. This system begins with you. If you can read your dog and anticipate its actions, you have already started to understand how we train. The elements of this system are summarized below.
Whoa Post
It establishes a point of contact so the dog will stand or sit still.
Check Cord
It prepares the dog for working off of the lead.
Command Lead
The dog will read the handler's body language.
Chain
The dog will begin to gain focus, as well as develop patience and compliance.
