What training options can we offer you?
At Hay Creek Kennel we believe that you and your dog deserve a low pressure, high energy means for learning. This is why we trust in and fully utilize HuntSmith's Silent Command System™ when training. This system will enable you to more easily communicate with your dog so it will go with you, come to you, and stand or sit still.
In order to be successful, you and your dog must commit to the training. Yes, owners are expected to learn along with their dogs. This is something that you will thoroughly enjoy as you will establish bond with your dog based on respect and trust. If we work together, your dog will reach its full potential.
We offer the following training options:
Bird Introduction/Puppy Development Bird introduction is great for any dog that has not been exposed to birds. It is best for puppies as young as ten to twenty weeks of age. During this time your dog will work on the early steps of the Silent Command System™, but more importantly have fun with birds. We will turn on your dog's prey drive and nose, as well as prepare your dog for future training by encouraging your dog to develop his or her own identity and independence. LEARN MORE. Without bird introduction/puppy development there is no bird dog.

Training through the Silent Command System™ This system can be used for gun dog training as well as general obedience training.
Trained Retrieve. Trained retrieve is considered a finishing touch. Therefore it is one of the last skills that we will teach your dog. It is an complex process, that if done correctly, will also serve to form an intense bond between dog and handler.
Backing or Honor Training. This is another finishing touch that will allow your dog to back or honor another dog's point/flush and retrieve.
If you are interested in training, call us and set up a consultation free of charge. During your consultation we will assess your dog's abilities and discuss your goals and expectations. We will tell you if we think we can meet them. Leaving your dog for any type of training costs $700.00 per month (no additional fees will be assessed). We ask that your dog stays with us for a minimum of 30 days. However, other arrangements can be made.
Also, be sure to contact us early. We only take in a limited number of dogs for training at a time. This ensures that your dog is getting the time and attention that it deserves.
If you plan to bring your dog to our kennel for any reason, please bring a copy of your dog's current vaccination record. General vaccinations, along with Canine Bordetella, are required. This ensures that your dog will be in the healthiest environment possible.
We look forward to meeting you and your dog.
