Who are we and what does our facility consist of? Hay Creek Kennel is family owned and operated.  The kennel, just steps from our home, offers your dog a great home-away-from-home stay. Our kennel building contains 20 indoor-outdoor spacious runs. However, your dog will not spend much time in its kennel. It will be outdoors exercising and learning.

Home and Kennel Kennel

Our training grounds is approximately 40 acres, connected to the kennel, and fully enclosed for your dog’s safety. Inside of the grounds is the covered chain. The chain is similar to desks in a classroom. The dogs have their "seat" and are attentive, learning from each other while remaining cool in the shade.

Exercise Area Covered Chain

Inside the training field we have strategically placed three recall pens containing bobwhite quail. These, in addition to our pigeons, offer your dog the optimum bird experience during training.

We will also condition your dog around a six-mile path via free run, gang run, or roading.  Free running is a run where your dog runs alone. This not only conditions your dog, but allows him or her to form an identity and self confidence. Gang running is a run where your dog runs with a group of other dogs. Finally, roading is accomplished through a rig or what we would think of as a piece of exercise equipment. The picture below shows our rig. Depending upon how it is used, this rig allows us to target unique conditioning needs such as improving big run, speed, endurance, pace, or even tail set. The results are amazing and the dogs absolutely love it. View a short roading video (QuickTime, 988 KB).

We enjoy working your dog on grouse, woodcock, prairie chicken, sharp-tail, quail, and pheasant. If your dog should travel to the grouse woods or prairie preserve for training, he or she will travel in safety and comfort in our dog trailer.
